STRAIT LACES FOR ROUNDHOUSE STUDIOS

Monday, 17 August 2009

Roundhouse Studios, London announced this week that Northern Irish band Strait Laces have been chosen as winners of their 30/30 Competition sponsored by EMI.

The Coleraine based trio have won recording time in the Roundhouse EMI Studio where they will get the chance to work with renowned music producers, and will also be able to take part in a targeted mentoring programme to help enhance their musical career prospects.

30 bands from across the UK have been chosen to take part in the programme, with Strait Laces being the only one from Northern Ireland.

After recording in September the band also have the chance to perform as part of the Emerging Proms in October - the partner of the BBC Electric Proms dedicated to profiling emerging artists.

2009 has already been a packed year for Strait Laces after they signed to Bruised Fruit Records in February and completed their first festival tour in May.  They’ve shared stages with local favorites Ed Zealous, General Fiasco and Panama Kings as well as bands from further afield such as Texan outfit White Denim.  With a Radio One session already under their belt and spot plays on both Rory McConnell and Huw Stephens shows, Strait Laces are already being tipped as ‘ones to watch’ in 2010.

Jennie McCullough from Bruised Fruit comments “I’m really thrilled that a young band from Northern Ireland is being given an opportunity like this.  Strait Laces have already worked hard this year and with the help of EMI and Roundhouse Studios they have the potential to develop into a household name in the future.”

Yesterday Strait Laces bassist Jonny Creelman said “This is one of the most exciting things that has happened to us as a band. We can’t wait to get into the studio”.

Strait Laces are currently booking live dates all across Northern Ireland in October and November in the run up to their debut single launch on November 2nd.  More information can be found online at www.bruisedfruitpromotions.com
